Who are we?
Binta's Angels Network is a group of volunteers with the sole purpose of helping the most vulnerable people in desperate situations in Sierra Leone. The organization is particularly focused on children that have been affected by the 10-year long civil war that devastated much of the country and took away the livelihoods of most of its population. Thousands of children lost their lives during the conflict, and hundreds of thousands more lost their childhood, which they could never reclaim without help. Most of them were victims of both physical and emotional mutilation and are left with no future prospects of making sustainable livelihood for themselves. A good number lost their parents and are forced to become adults while still in infancy because they had no one to take care of them. In the current desperate post-war situation, these children are evermore disadvantaged in a situation that is already difficult for adults. Large numbers of them have no prospects for education, and the most basic potentials for play and gain is a distant dream for them. BAN is therefore a window for such children through which they could see the world again in a new and better way.
BAN therefore has a goal to support these war-affected children of Sierra Leone to become future productive members of society.
Our Mission
Binta’s Angels Network (BAN) works on projects, which (will) help to improve the lives of orphans and underprivileged children in Sierra Leone. One of our projects is to provide the basis for education by building of schools and provide furniture and stationery. Another project is focused on providing livelihood prospects for children by donating clothing, toys, and games.
